The house needs some repairs, can I make the seller fix everything?

Just as the seller always thinks he has given away the property the buyer always thinks he has overpaid for the property. On the same token the seller never wants to repair anything that was found during the inspection whereas the buyer wants to have everything repaired. Granted this is a slight exaggeration of the truth but you get the drift. Stay reasonable and keep things in perspective. You have no idea how many million Dollar deals have fallen apart due to hundred Dollar items. You might be an extremely successful business person that is used to winning in the game of business.
For your long term success in Aspen real estate it might make sense to swallow your pride and give in to some seller’s stubbornness to accept responsibility for marginal repairs. So the kitchen faucet is dripping, and the seller refuses to replace the sink fixture. So, big deal. You have negotiated a good deal and the couple of hundred Dollars in extra expenses are not going to change that.. |
