What if the offered price isn't what we wanted?
|
So the offer was not what we expected. But it is an offer. The person offering to buy your property must have liked it enough to consider it as his home, second home or home-site for his future home. That is a good start. Some people like to always start with a low offer. That does not yet mean that you will not be able to achieve the price you have in mind. If the buyer is a serious buyer he will know what the market value of your property is. He will not expect to pay less than that market value.
It is always advisable to at least counter any offer. Once the potential buyer recognizes that you are standing your ground he will either drop out if he was just bargain hunting, or he will step up to the point necessary to buy your property. Both are good outcomes. In one case no time wasted, in the other you will get what you want for your property. |
